I offer a range of private in-home lactation support packages and personal one-on-one care options to set your baby up for the best start to life. From prenatal breastfeeding education and preparation to the newborn stage and baby behaviour, to help with any feeding issues down the track, we can work together to create a realistic plan suited to your individual needs. At Care Lactation I offer support, warmth, understanding and the meeting of your individual needs.

I am fully aware that sometimes when you need help with breastfeeding, you really need it quickly! Initial Consultation

A long consult to allow enough time for an extensive history to be taken and an adequate assessment of breastfeeding concerns or issues, so I can provide the best support and advice to get you on the right track.

Prenatal Preparation for Breastfeeding Class

The best way to be prepared is to educate yourself - even before your baby arrives! This class is the perfect way to prepare for your breastfeeding journey and make sure you’re set for success. Know another couple having a baby? Invite them along to your session and I can negotiate a discount for each couple (see terms of service below). Please contact us before making your booking to receive your discount.

Details

Duration:

  • approx 2-3hrs of education for a couple or small group (max 3-4 couples)

Overview:

  • Aimed at first-time parents or those who had difficult breastfeeding experiences in the past.
  • If you have had breastfeeding difficulties in the past, we will work through them and plan to avoid these for your baby this time around

Topics may include:

  • Antenatal expression of colostrum - expressing your colostrum before the birth of your baby (includes an expressing kit).
  • Why should you breastfeed?
  • How breastfeeding works
  • What to expect with breastfeeding in the first few days and weeks
  • Positioning and attaching your baby at the breast
  • How to identify if attachment is optimal/avoid discomfort or nipple pain and tenderness
  • How to recognise if your baby is getting enough milk
  • How to use breastfeeding aids such as breast pumps, nipple shields, etc

Additional sessions:

  • After completing this class, you are then eligible for single 1-hour postnatal consults ($130) or 30 min phone/virtual follow-ups ($50)

Postnatal Initial Consult

Had your baby and it’s still early days? This postnatal package might be for you! It’s all about empowering you to feel confident and independent with your feeding and newborn baby care. 

Details

Duration:

  • A lengthy home visit allowing plenty of time to take a history and address all of your concerns

Topics may include:

  • Debrief of the birth
  • Assistance with establishing breastfeeding, assessing positioning and attachment to breast.
  • Is your baby getting enough milk?
  • Education around normal newborns behaviours and expectations
  • Support with parent-crafting skills such as bathing and settling baby
  • Can include weight checks of baby for reassurance

Additional sessions:

  • If further support is required, this session makes you eligible for 1 hour follow up consults ($130) or 30 min phone/virtual follow-ups ($50).

Pre & Postnatal Care Bundle

This value-packed bundle gives you the best of both worlds, incorporating Prenatal education and Postnatal support sessions into one discounted package.

Duration:

  • Prenatal - 2 hour home visit before baby is born (see Prenatal Preparation package details)
  • Postnatal - 2 x 1 hour home visits after your baby is born. (see Postnatal package details)

Bonus inclusions:

  • Up to 3 x 30 mins of phone/virtual or email support for 1 week from the date of the last face to face consult to review breastfeeding plan, check-ins to see how you’re travelling, and help with any further questions you may have.
  • Welcome pack/goodie bag with some after birth essentials, which may include:
    • antenatal expressing syringe kit
    • sample nipple cream
    • sample nappy cream
    • breast pads
    • perineal icepacks

Additional sessions:

  • If further support is required, this session makes you eligible for 1 hour follow up consults ($130) or 30 min phone/virtual follow-ups ($50).

Postnatal Follow-Up Consult

If you’re looking for additional breastfeeding assistance after completing one of the packages above, you may be eligible to book single follow up consultations to assist with any concerns.

  • 1 hour home visit

Topics may include:

  • weight of baby
  • revision of breastfeeding plan
  • any other problems or issues that may arise with feeding

Please note: This session is only available if an initial long consult has been previously booked, as I will already have an extensive history of the birth details and current breastfeeding issues which are vital to providing lactation assistance.

Follow-Up Phone/Virtual Consult (30m)

If you have some questions or would like a follow-up after an initial session, you’re welcome to book a phone/virtual consultation. These consults are up to 30 minutes and are suitable for quick check-ins and questions. If you are within 10km of Warrnambool CBD and you have had an initial 2 hour consult, this 30 min consult can be offered as a quick check in “follow up” for a baby’s weight and a review of a feeding plan. If you have more complex issues to cover or require in-person assistance, then a 1 hour zoom or in person consultation will be advised. This is a great option if you are out of town and eliminates travel time and costs.

  • Progress check
  • Revision of breastfeeding plan
  • Answers to any questions you have

Follow Up In-Person Consult (1h)

If you require some additional assistance after your initial 2-hour consultation, you’re welcome to book a 1 hour in-person consultation so we can cover any issues or questions that have popped up, and help you get back on track or address your concerns.

Leanne is a Certified Infant Massage Instructor with IMIS (Infant Massage Information Service) a qualification recognised world wide. For more information on her qualification visit www.babymassage.net.au

Leanne offers instruction to parents/carers on correct techniques and sequences for different ages, such as those that may assist with colic, wind, constipation and sinus congestion, the many benefits of Infant Massage and much more. Gift Vouchers / Packages

Know someone having a baby? The gift of invaluable in-home consistent expert lactation and newborn support and advice is meaningful, practical, and pretty much the perfect idea for expectant parents wanting to breastfeed!

Friends could chip in as a baby shower gift, or maybe the expectant grandparents might like to help set their little grandie up for the best start to life! I can make up a gorgeous looking care package that the expectant parents will love. (Minimum amount $50 that can be put toward an initial consultation).

Private Health Rebates

Rebates may be available depending on your level of cover and insurer. Receipt of payment can be provided with my IBCLC number. Please enquire with your fund to see if you have Lactation Consultant cover.

 

A Note on Online Payments

Care Lactation accepts online payments for appointments through Stripe. Stripe has been audited by a PCI-certified auditor and is certified to PCI Service Provider Level 1. This is the most stringent level of certification available in the payments industry. To accomplish this, we use the best-in-class security tools and practices to maintain a high level of security at Stripe.

Where I Visit

Care Lactation Breastfeeding support services are available for home visits in Warrnambool and throughout the South West of Victoria up to 100km drive. The following fees will be added to the consult based on the travel distance. This radius is based on google maps from central Warrnambool.

Please see below for travel costs:

  • Under 10kms - no charge

  • 10 - 30km - $30

  • 30 - 50km - $60

  • 50km - 80km - $80

  • 80km - 100km - $100
