About Leanne & Care Lactation

Private in-home Lactation Consultant - (IBCLC) for breastfeeding parents in Warrnambool and the South West.

When it comes to new babies, we invest in many things - like the safest car seat, pram, cot, or fancy baby monitors. Getting your breastfeeding off to the best possible start with an experienced midwife/lactation consultant is such a worthwhile investment. I have helped many new parents with over 20 years of experience as a midwife and I enjoy great job satisfaction in seeing families gain confidence at the beginning of their parenting journey.

Breastfeeding is the natural way to feed babies and provides long term health benefits for both mother and baby. What we know about breastfeeding has changed a lot over the years. I offer current evidence-based information and gentle support and guidance with any difficulties you may be experiencing.

Here at Care Lactation, I will provide a supportive and caring environment to help you achieve your feeding goals and leave you feeling comfortable, confident, and empowered.

Every baby, family, and situation is different, so my advice is always individually tailored. You don’t have to worry about lectures or one-size-fits-all checklists with me, instead, we’ll work together to create a realistic plan suited to your specific needs and concerns.

A message from Leanne

I am passionate about caring for families and their young babies and have enjoyed a career doing just that. As a Division 1 Registered Nurse of 25 years and a Midwife of more than 22 years, I’ve worked with many breastfeeding mothers and newborn babies. After experiencing difficulties in the early days breastfeeding my own 3 children, I became inspired to gain further qualifications as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).

I know firsthand that those early breastfeeding days can be tough… but it does get easier and is so worth getting right from the very beginning. My ideal outcome is to help you reach your feeding goals, however, they may look, and have you feeling so confident that you don’t even need me!

I also know that it can be really hard to get out of the house with a new baby, which is why I come to you offering personalised care as a private in-home service in the comfort of your own home. This makes Care Lactation unlike any other lactation support anywhere in South West Victoria. I offer feeding education before the birth of your baby, guide you through the early days and provide assistance with any issues you may be having at any stage during your feeding journey.

My unique combination of clinical and personal experience means I truly understand what you’re going through and I will always provide a warm, supportive and non-judgemental approach.

I look forward to the opportunity to meet you and your baby!

Leanne O’Connor
RN RM IBCLC
